The history of RDR starts a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Well, not quite that far. In 2007, after a resounding defeat in the 2006 California Insurance Commissioner's race, Larry Cafiero founded HeliOS Solutions West in the back of what was then the Felton Trading Post on Highway 9 just north of the traffic light (Note: In Felton, that's directions enough). HeliOS Solutions West provided software testing, hardware refurbishing and remanufacturing, as well as networking services for small businesses in the San Lorenzo Valley.
A fire at the Felton Trading Post in November 2007 caused the both tenants to move, and HeliOS Solutions West moved to where it is now located at 6116 Highway 9, across the street from the Rite-Aid and next to Mountain Community Resources (again, directions enough for Felton).
In the summer of 2008, Larry organized Lindependence 2008 in Felton, where Linux was introduced to the town at three events at hall at Felton Presbyterian Church. An offshoot of this activity was the formation of the Felton Linux Users Group (Felton LUG), where Larry met Chris Busick.
Chris and Larry pooled their resources and formed RDR in the spring of 2009. Since then, RDR has been providing services for small-business clients from Pescadero to Watsonville.
